League Rules
  • All games are scheduled for Tuesday’s or Thursday’s at 6:15 and 7:15.  Games will consist of two equal halves of 25 minutes with a 5-minute intermission.
  • Games postponed due to rain will be made up at the end of the season.  Excessive rainouts may cause the cancellation of some games.  Decisions to postpone/cancel games are at the sole discretion of the League Commissioner or his designated appointees.
  • The Playoffs/Championships are scheduled for Tuesday, July 14 and Thursday, July 16.  If it is necessary to use this date to make up postponed games, then the Playoffs/Championships will be played on Tuesday, July 21 and Thursday, July 23.
  • Teams will receive 5 points for a victory, 1 point for a tie, 1 point for each goal scored (up to a maximum of 6 goals), and 1 point for a shutout, for a maximum of 12 points in a single game.  There are no overtime periods.  At the conclusion of each game the team captain or one designated representative must notify the league commissioner or his designated appointee of the game result and the score.
  • The top four teams in points at the conclusion of Week 7 will participate in a two game playoff.  In the event of a tie in point totals, the following will be used to break the tie:  head to head records; goals scored by each team; goals against each team; number of shutout victories.
  • Each team must submit a roster at the start of the season.  NO player is permitted to play unless listed on the team roster and having signed both the League and Township Hold Harmless Insurance Waivers.  All players must show proof of individual medical insurance to play.  Failure to comply will result in the forfeiture of all games involving the offending player(s).  Players may be added to the roster anytime during the season, but must compete in at least one game to be eligible for playoffs/championships.
  • Teams must submit a non-refundable league entrance fee of $775 by May 1.   No team will be able to participate without paying this fee.  (Checks made payable to:  Ewing 7 v 7 Soccer League).
  • All teams will be provided with 15 team shirts. Players must be properly uniformed with team shirts, shin guards and spikes to play. No jewelry may be worn on the field of play.
  • All teams will be required to select a team coach/captain and an alternate.  These individuals will be responsible to enforce the compliance of all league rules, submit rosters, pay league fees, etc.

Game Rules

  •  All FIFA rules apply, with the exception of:
  •  Each team will field a team of six players and 1 goalkeeper (clearly delineated with a distinct and different jersey)
  •  Goalkeepers are not permitted to punt or drop kick the ball.  The goalkeeper may distribute the ball with his hands only.
  •  Field size is reduced from the standard recommended dimensions to 45 yds by 75 yds.
  •  Size of the goals are reduced from standard size to 6’ by 24’.
  •  Slide tackling is not permitted.  Players must remain on their feet in challenging for a ball, (subject to a referee’s discretion).
  •  Substitutions can be made at will during restarts.
  •  Off-sides penalty is not enforced.
  •  Any player penalized with a red card (or two yellow cards in a single game) will be dismissed from the current game and the next two subsequent games.  Severe situations may warrant the removal from the league.  Such situations will be decided at the sole discretion of the League Commissioner.
  •  Each team is asked to supply a game ball to be approved by both the referee and the opposing team.
